During the unveiling of the Don and Clarinda Jeanes Fountain President Bill Greer made an exciting announcement. He announced that along with receiving the largest donation Milligan has ever received, the board of trustees approved the building of new dorms on campus.
“I’m happy to announce that Richard and Leslie Gilliam of Charlottesville, Va., are making the largest single gift ever received by Milligan,” Greer said. “They have committed over $4.7 million toward the site preparation and construction of the housing village. This is a project that I believe will transform the campus and, in turn, will have a tremendous impact on the student experience at Milligan.”
The Gilliam family donated money to build the Gilliam Wellness Center.
The dorms will be in a community living style with 12 different buildings that will hold 20 students a piece. In the center will be a courtyard and an intermural field to promote a community lifestyles.
The Milligan aims to have the dorms completed by the fall of 2013.
