Milligan may not have football, but we do have powder puff. Powder puff football is flag football typically played by women, and Milligan separates the teams based on class: juniors and seniors vs. sophomores and freshmen. Every homecoming week hosts a powder puff game.

Sign ups for the teams started Sept. 25 and will be outside the cafeteria until Oct. 11.

Senior Caroline Bivins has been a part of powder puff since her freshman year.

“This is my fourth year playing powder puff,” Bivins said. “The best thing about powder puff is the opportunity to just have fun and meet new people.”

Powder puff features an hour long game with a halftime show full of male “cheerleaders.” Many students “paint up” in support for their classes.

“Some of my closest friends have come from playing powder puff,” Bivins said. “It gives those who aren’t on a sports team the opportunity to get involved in playing.”

Even if you aren’t completely sold on the idea, Bivins had some advice: “For those who aren’t sure, I would say it is honestly one of the highlights of my time at Milligan! It is a lot of fun and a great way to meet new people!”

The powder puff game will be on Oct. 28 at Anglin Field.
