Milligan University honored over 100 students and faculty during a series of award ceremonies from April 22–24, recognizing achievements in athletics, academics and the arts. The events included the BUFFYS, an academic convocation and a celebration showcase, each highlighting outstanding accomplishments from the past year.
Milligan’s second Buff Concert Festival on April 23 featured four bands—including student groups and visiting artists—along with an SGA swearing-in ceremony between performances.
The Milligan University Orchestra and Concert Choir performed a themed concert called “At the Threshold,” featuring music about life, death, and transition, alongside local high school choirs. Despite logistical challenges, the collaboration created a powerful musical experience and highlighted the emotional and educational impact of music.
Campus Activities Board hosted an Open Mic night at Milligan University with 12 performances and about 200 students attending. The event featured music, crowd participation, and an intermission, and CAB announced their next event, Breakfast with Brutus.
Milligan University hosted its 13th annual Rise Above Conference, where over 60 students presented research focused on “Attention and Distraction.” Projects ranged from counseling studies to a solar-powered HVAC system, and the event highlighted the value of student research and presenting before graduation.
Milligan athletics has had a strong spring season, with standout performances in sports like baseball, flag football, swimming, track and field, and a historic national championship sweep in disc golf. Multiple teams and athletes earned top finishes, set school records, and qualified for upcoming conference tournaments.
Milligan University won both the men’s and women’s Division I titles at the 2026 College Disc Golf National Championships. Several players also earned top individual honors, helping make it a historic performance for the program.
Milligan hosted several arts events in March and April, including student showcases, a talent show, a cabaret performance, and a senior graphic design exhibit. Upcoming events include an orchestra concert on April 18 and a combined theater, film, and awards gala on April 24.
AI has become widely used by students, helping with learning and understanding but also raising concerns about cheating and loss of critical thinking. Schools now face challenges in ensuring fairness and maintaining the true purpose of education as AI continues to grow.
Milligan’s Model United Nations team won 12 awards at a regional conference in Charlotte, achieving their best performance ever. Students earned top team and individual honors while building skills in public speaking, teamwork, and leadership.
