The Screen to Stage Cabaret on March 27 featured 23 performances from films, with mostly solo acts and a lively audience despite minor technical issues. Seniors Ariana Floyd and Abby Tramel gave a meaningful final performance together, highlighting the show’s personal and fun atmosphere.
Milligan senior graphic design students showcased their capstone projects in the “Liminal” exhibit, highlighting themes of transition, identity, and growth as they prepare to graduate. The exhibit featured diverse work in branding and design, reflecting each student’s unique experiences and creative development.
Free beginner ballroom dance classes are held Monday evenings at Milligan, taught by Keith Edwards with help from Mia Matthews, covering styles like waltz, swing, and foxtrot. The program builds confidence and community, and ends with a dance social on April 17 at Mountain Home Ballroom.
After a carbon monoxide leak paused competitions, Milligan athletes gradually returned using a monitored three-stage protocol, though some still experienced lingering symptoms. While most athletes resumed play, others like Emma Cutshall continue to struggle with serious health effects and have not yet been able to return.
Milligan’s swim teams had a strong showing at the NAIA Championships, finishing fourth for men and eighth for women while setting multiple school records. Riley Renaud led the way with a national title in the 1,650 freestyle, and several teammates earned runner-up finishes and All-American honors.
Milligan athletes competed in several national championships, highlighted by Ellen-Mary Kearney winning the 3000m title and strong finishes in track and cycling. The women’s basketball team also made the NAIA Tournament but lost a close game, while cycling placed third overall.
Senior Elijah Bredwood scored a school-record 54 points to lead Milligan to a 101–92 win over Tennessee Wesleyan on Feb. 22. He broke the previous 52-point record and plans to pursue professional basketball opportunities overseas after graduation.
The Milligan women’s basketball team won the AAC tournament championship 64–62 over Reinhardt to secure back-to-back titles, led by Callie Reeder’s 16 points and MVP Semaj Clark.
Milligan students looking to live off campus during the Webb Hall renovation should budget for extra costs like utilities, internet and groceries, not just rent. Sharing an apartment, preparing documents and carefully checking the unit can help make renting more affordable and avoid problems.
Rising home prices in Tennessee are making off-campus housing more expensive and harder to find for Milligan students. With upcoming dorm renovations pushing more upperclassmen off campus, many students are worried about affording rent.
