Milligan University will host a graduation ceremony for both the May and December graduates of 2020. The ceremony will be divided into four small groups, with graduate programs taking place on December 4 and 5, and the undergraduates on the 11th. Students are given the option of attending online or in person.

“I’m leaning towards opting out,” said Milligan student Amy Ferguson. “The reason I would go would be to have all of my professors there, and because there will only be a representative from each field of study, I don’t really have much desire to go.”

The ceremonies will be attended by representative faculty for the entire faculty delegation in order to keep the attendees of the ceremony within COVID-19 guidelines. Students attending will be given four tickets each for additional guests.

The ceremonies will be broadcast online for those unable to attend.

“I would rather have a small celebration at home with my family than risk getting my family sick,” said Ferguson.

Students who applied to graduate in December confirmed their intention to participate in the ceremony during online checkout, but students who graduated in May were required to confirm their attendance plans in an online survey.

Past graduation lie many different paths for the grads.

“Graduating early is not the normal path and will be hard work, but it opens up the opportunity for me to get ahead on pursuing my Master’s Degree,” said student Caitlin Dominy. “It will allow me to achieve more in my future jobs.”

“I’m looking forward to starting fresh in a new place as a professional,” said Ferguson. “I have dreams and a vision for how to make this world better, and as I enter the next phase of my life, I want to go after it.”
