Lines of tables and booths with local businesses and on campus clubs gathered on the Mary Sword Commons this week for Milligan’s annual Rush Day event.

The event lasted from 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. on Sept. 18.

Both the businesses and clubs handed out various gifts and items to students as they passed through the vicinity.

Rush day offers many clubs the opportunity to increase their respective membership size. Micah Ridley, Overseer of Production for the WUMC radio station hosted one of the tables.

“This is the first year the radio club has had a table at Rush Day,” Ridley said. “I hope as the day goes on we’ll find more people interested in joining.”

Several local businesses were also present at the event, including Eastman Credit Union, Ballad Health and Agape Women’s Services. Many of the local businesses are regular attendees of Rush Day, having participated multiple times.

According to Brealle Davis, Campus Activities Director, the event is organized through the city chambers of Johnson City and Elizabethton which provide contact to local businesses.
