Milligan students gathered in lower Seegar Sunday evening for the collaboration of Vespers and My Two Words. Senior Kylie Morgan and sophomore Zachary Bickford shared their stories.

My Two Words, led by the Apostolos missions club, provides Milligan students a platform to share their stories and experiences. Each speaker chooses two words that highlight the purpose of their testimony. Vespers is a weekly student-led worship service that takes place on Sunday nights. The two events joined together Sunday, starting with worship and concluding with My Two Words.

Bickford’s two words were “perseverance” and “patience,” as he discussed challenges he’s faced in life and placed importance on triumph and God’s timing. Bickford said he has felt called to share his story since freshman year after attending his first My Two Words.

“I just think hearing other people’s stories and seeing their strength helps people feel like they’re not alone,” he said. “God really works in crazy ways, I think My Two Words really brings people together.”

Morgan’s two words were bitterness and forgiveness as she shared her story of growing up and reflecting upon failed relationships.

Freshman Patricia Chellah noted her excitement for the two events coming together.

“The Vespers/Apostolos crossover was something I had been looking forward to this semester because they are two groups with very similar goals,” she said. “It seemed completely natural that these two events would collide.”

Junior Sophie Dunman also mentioned the new opportunity this collaboration offered for Milligan students.

“It’s a great way to get students who might not go to church to hear faith-filled songs and hear testimonies,” she said. “It can also be vulnerable, especially in a way that allows students to connect and share their faith.”
