Milligan hosted its annual musical theater production, “Freaky Friday,” from Oct. 23-26. The show ran in the McGlothin-Street Theatre in the Gregory Center at 7:30 p.m. Oct. 23-25, with the final performance at 2:30 p.m. Oct. 26.
Rehearsals for “Freaky Friday” began the week of Sept. 2 and continued for more than a month. Opening night was Oct. 23 at 7:30 p.m.
“Everyone in the ‘Freaky Friday’ cast is super great, and it’s been a really fun experience,” said freshman Micah Graffius.
Graffius plays the wedding photographer, Louis, and one of the students, Parker, in this semester’s musical production.
He said being in the show has been a positive experience because he’s gaining theater experience and learning about technology behind the scenes.
Ten-year-old Reese Drayer also landed a role in the show.
Drayer, a fifth grader, plays the little brother, Fletcher. He got the role after previously working with “Freaky Friday” director Diane Traveau on “A Christmas Story” production at Jonesborough Repertory Theatre in December 2024. “My favorite part in the play is probably ‘Women and Sandwiches,’” Drayer said.
“Women and Sandwiches” is a song Drayer performs with cast member Conner Morgan, who plays Adam.
Drayer said he enjoyed working with the cast “very much.”
Senior Ariana Floyd played the main role of Ellie Blake, marking her first lead in a production at Milligan.
“I am very, very grateful. It was a great opportunity,”Floyd said. “It was so much fun to not only play one character, but two.”
Floyd said she listened to “Numb” by Linkin Park before every show to get into the Ellie headspace.
She said angsty music helped her get into the right mindset for performing and to “channel all the emotions that went into the show.”
