Monday, Jan. 26, was the first of several days that Milligan closed due to inclement weather. All classes, offices, extracurriculars and events were cancelled those days. Here is how Milligan students spend their first day without classes:
Faith Helton, Sophomore
“I spent my snow day inside because I was freezing. I made hot chocolate and watched movies.”
Abbie Christensen, Graduate Student
“Having the snow day just gave me the chance to do not a whole lot, which was awesome. I caught up on some schoolwork and got my swimming done for the day. Then, since I had so much time in the evening, I got to go to a movie for a few hours!”
Wyatt Pierce, Freshman
“Yesterday morning, I drove from Bristol to Milligan while the roads were icy, and my car slipped into a small ditch. Thankfully, I avoided a wreck and was able to get out safely. The rest of the day I spent inside, staying warm.”
Joey Cardillo, Sophomore
“I spent the day with my girlfriend sleeping in and then we played an escape room board game. We then went out to a couple of stores and then had some sushi. After that, we came back and watched a movie. It was very nice waking up to the email saying no school and then looking out the window seeing snow on the ground.”
Nia Ailshie, Junior
“I had a very slow morning doing homework and drinking my coffee. Later, my friends and I celebrated our snow day at Waffle House and spent four and a half hours playing games!”
Michael Ward, Senior
“We hunkered down. Granny (my mother) made chili and enough baked goods for three church bake sales.”
Kayla Prudhomme, Sophomore
“My friends and I spent our snow day sledding and hanging out. We walked to my grandma’s house for hot chocolate. It was fun!”
McKenzie Fitzpatrick, Junior
“It was so cold outside, so I just decided to have a nice cozy day in. I stayed in my warm apartment and worked on my embroidery project and made banana bread with my roommates.”
Peyton Brady, Sophomore
“My snow day was a cycle of sleep, swim, lift, nap, repeat. I ended the day with steak, sweet potatoes and hanging out with friends, proving that even a day off somehow turned into a long training day.”
