I feel homesick.

(To want to go back to what was)

For something I’ve never had.

How can that make any sense?

Are we to always long for what could have been?

Is it OK for my stomach to twist

and fall to the floor with the feeling of this?

Am I allowed to feel for something I’ll never have?

Is that why wishes are said in our head as we blow out birthday candles or dandelions?

Is that our way of expressing our want for something we know will never happen?

Said in whispers and dreams and things that no one else sees.

Are fairy tales dreams that one could never achieve,

where we could choose our victories?

Can I feel homesick,

if it was never about a home,

but something far more unreachable?

Can I feel homesick for me?
