As the school year comes to an end, many seniors look back on their past four years at Milligan with some fond, and not so fond, memories. There is no dispute; college is difficult, but four years of experience make seniors eligible to give some good advice to underclassmen who still have a few years left in their college careers.

It is an age-old tradition for seniors to pass along their stores of knowledge that they have accumulated after four years of college. Milligan seniors are no different and have some good advice to pass along to underclassmen.

Senior Keri Harrison encouraged students to manage their time well and plan for both academics and leisure.

“Always remember to fun while you can, because four years goes by fast,” Harrison said. “Also, study as you go instead of cramming it all into one night.”

Senior Sidney Bailey advised students to take care of themselves and learn how to manage stress.

“It is a normal part of college to be stressed out, so it is a good idea to quickly learn how you process stress, and continually focus on your own self-care.”

It’s no secret that Milligan’s campus is anything but flat, and senior Ann Sullivan advised students to plan accordingly.

“Invest in a good pair of walking shoes for the hills,” she said. “And hammocks are mandatory for all Milligan students.”

Senior Emilee Hamilton advised students to keep an eye on the weather to avoid soggy walks to class.

“Never leave your dorm without checking the weather, and always pack your rain jacket, because the weather is bipolar in Tennessee,” Hamilton said.

She also encouraged students to balance their studies and time with friends.

“To keep your mental sanity, find friends that care for you even when you’re hangry (a combination of hungry and angry), so you can rant to (them) anytime,” she said.

Senior Cassidy Gibson said making new friends on campus is really important. “Learn to step out of your shell, talk to people and be willing to make new friends.”

While underclassmen can’t give a whole lot of “real world” advice to seniors, we can certainly wish them luck on their endeavors!
