Milligan College held its annual Awards Convocation online on Thursday to recognize students with outstanding achievement in the 2019-20 school year. The departments of each concentration presented a total of over 80 awards to their selected recipients.

According to milligan.edu, Milligan’s highest student honor, the Ivor Jones Outstanding Senior Award, was given to Elijah “Bo” Pless. The recipient of this award is nominated by Milligan’s faculty each year. It is presented to a graduating senior who has given an outstanding performance in service to the college, demonstrates academic excellence, is active in the campus community and shows promise to continue the values of the college.

Bo Pless received Milligan’s highest student honor, the Ivor Jones Outstanding Senior Award.

Scholarships awarded through Milligan’s Advancement Office were presented to Emily Harper, Gabrielle R. Jones Memorial Scholarship; Jan Kuepper, Greer-Mahan Scholarship; Sydney Rhoton, Guy and Rhea Oakes Scholarship; Elizabeth Dotson, Jeremy S. Duncan Memorial Scholarship; and Rachel Scheffer, Wendy I. Walstrom Memorial Scholarship.

Receiving awards from Milligan’s Board of Trustees and Board of Advisors were Emma Ellis, Outstanding Academic Student; Kellee Geren, Outstanding Female Athlete; and Roberto Fernandez Garrido, Outstanding Male Athlete.

The Institute for Servant Leadership presented Emma Albrecht the Servant Leadership Honor.

For research, the Outstanding Undergraduate Research Project Award was presented to Hannah Rodgers. The RISE Above Research Theme Awards were presented to Maggie Booher and Amy Shumaker for humanities; Ethan Wymer for social science; Zula Coley, Jay Wheeler, Randy Huerta, John Cole and Sarah Robinson for STEM; and Elijah Hook for graduate research.

The SGA Student Distinguished Service Award was presented to Teve Mushayamunda.

Hannah Luzadder received the Student Development Leadership Award.
