As Milligan University students returned to campus for a school year unlike any other, they were met with several changes.

Over the summer months, Milligan faculty and administrators did well to communicate frequently and clearly with students to prepare them for what to expect when returning to campus. Students received update emails from president Bill Greer and other administration staff.

Alex Mortimer, a Milligan senior, described his return home saying; “Campus, in my experience, has met my expectations almost entirely. I really feel like I was prepared for the change in reality. That being said the transition has not been easy or without changes and challenges.”

Fellow Milligan Student Samir Koko elaborated by sharing his experience. “When it comes to communication from the university, I feel like the information was communicated constantly and clearly over the summer, but since being back on campus, I feel like there has been very little communication from faculty and administration regarding updates and procedures.”

But not all students share the same outlook. Junior Ethan Pfister commended staff and students saying, “I have actually been really surprised since returning to campus. I have been really impressed with the way that the Milligan community has been able to adapt and work through this transition. Specifically, professors who have had to completely shift their method of teaching to become more accessible for students taking the courses online. Additionally, I have been really impressed by the student body! I thought surely nobody would be following the rules of masks and social distancing. I thought ‘It’s a bunch of college kids, how careful are they going to be?’ But everyone has been taking this very seriously and I am proud of the students. I think we are handling this very maturely.”
