Milligan, Tennessee – The Milligan men’s soccer team lit up its home field Sept. 24, cruising to a commanding 6–0 victory over Bluefield University before capping the night with a celebration of their seniors.

It didn’t take long for the Buffs to score their first goal. Rain and a slick field didn’t bother Federico Confaloni, who confidently delivered the assist for the first goal in the sixth minute. This allowed Javier Salgado to score the first goal.

That’s how the first half ended, but the Buffs weren’t done yet. They piled on four goals in an 11-minute stretch in the second half.

“It was really important for us to win with a high score, because we knew exactly who we were playing against, the lowest-ranked team. So, the expectations were high,” said No. 7 Emir Basar after the game.

The scoring run began in the 65th minute when Nathan Gilhooly buried a shot off a corner from Basar. By the 76th minute, Milligan had stretched it to 6-0—a surge that sealed the outcome and highlighted the team’s offensive attack.

Milligan dominated the stat sheet with a 34-3 advantage in total shots and a 13-3 edge in shots on goal. Nearly the entire roster contributed offensively. Madejski, Confaloni and Lattanzi each recorded two shots on target, while several others added one apiece.

For Buffs head coach Paddy Sweeney, the dominant win was both important and a relief.

“It’s massive, because these are the games you cannot afford to lose—especially at home,” he said.

The Buffaloes capped the win by honoring their 12 seniors after the game. .

The Buffaloes return to Anglin Field on Saturday to host Truett McConnell University. Kickoff is set for 4:30 p.m.
