Milligan disc golf competed in the “Volunteer Throwdown,” its conference tournament, at the University of Tennessee on Saturday. The event was part of a conference series held throughout the season, with each school in the conference hosting a tournament.  A total of 50 players from schools across the conference participated.

In Mixed Collegiate Division I, Milligan’s A team — Ethan Reab, John Bernard, James Blocker and Zachary Nelson — won with 17 throws under par. The Buffs trailed after the first round but secured the victory over UTK Orange in round two. In the Mixed Collegiate Division II, Milligan’s B team placed second at four throws under par.

A singles tournament was also held Saturday. Bernard and Blocker tied for second in Mixed Collegiate Division I at four throws under par. Nelson placed sixth, and Reab finished eighth. In Mixed Collegiate Division II, Milligan’s top finisher was Sean Pagenkopf. Aaron Walker placed sixth, and Michael Nickens finished ninth.

The team’s next tournament is the Bluegrass Regional Qualifier in Lexington, Kentucky, on Feb. 21.
