Screen to Stage Cabaret was held March 27 in McGlothlin-Street Theatre, where about 70% of the seats were filled.
The two-hour show, which began after a brief delay, featured 23 songs from 23 different films. Performances were split into two acts with a 15-minute intermission. While most acts were solos, the program also included duets and group numbers.
Senior Ariana Floyd performed “Skyfall,” originally recorded by Adele for the 2012 James Bond film with the same name.
“This show was different because it was so personal,” Floyd said. “The songs we picked ourselves. The bits and jokes let us add in our own personality, and that was so fun.”
Floyd and fellow senior Abby Tramel also performed “For Good” from “Wicked: For Good” as their final performance together at Milligan. During the number, a slideshow of photos from their time at the university played on a screen behind them. After the performance, their peers shared messages about the impact the two had on their lives.
Despite minor technical issues — including some microphone malfunctions, a missing stool and a piece of falling decor — the show ran smoothly overall. Audience members sang along to familiar songs, danced in the aisles and laughed at performers’ jokes.
“It went so well,” Floyd said. “It was so fun, pretty easy, we had few rehearsals, and everyone did really well.”
