Milligan University held its freshman class elections Sept. 17, with Abigail Melinsky elected as freshman class president.

Melinsky, an East Tennessee native, is a political science and social work double major and a member of Milligan’s swim team.

The Stampede made several attempts to contact Melinsky for an interview but was unable to connect with her before publication.

Melinsky will join the Student Government Association’s executive cabinet, which includes junior Elise Halkos, SGA president; senior Sarah Melinsky, executive board vice president and events committee adviser; junior Ben Roberts, vice president of finance; sophomore Londyn Cates, secretary; and junior Dillon Handshey, parliamentarian.

The SGA Student Senate will represent students across all four classes.

For the freshman class, Melinsky will serve as president, with Luke Garner and Nathaniel Ricket as male representatives and Celeste Riddle and Zoella Zimmerman as female representatives.

Sophomore class president Claire Garwood serves alongside male representatives Noah Smith and Peyton Boling and female representative Eden Vineyard.

Junior class president Maddie Bennett serves with male representatives Brayden Goddard and James Liles and female representatives Cloe Clark, Kendall Jarvis and Lily DeLong.

Senior class president Jona Liles serves alongside male representatives Dawson Arnold and Griffin McAlister and female representatives Morgan Dyer and Grace Baldwin.

SGA meetings are held at 8 p.m. every Thursday in Derthick 202 and are open to students.
