The Campus Activities Board (CAB) organized the last Open Mic night on Thursday, April 16, in lower Seeger, where 12 different acts entertained the Milligan community for almost two hours.
The night was hosted by McKenna Spaulding, who volunteered to emcee the event despite not being a CAB member. She helped guide the audience through the performances and kept the atmosphere lively throughout the evening.
“The first, and in my opinion best, performance was ‘Piano Man’ played by Buffalo Creek Revival. The harmonica part was so authentic, and I actually had chills,” said junior Kerim Akpinar.
Lower Seeger was filled, and the atmosphere was very energetic. Around 200 students supported the acts, joining in by singing, dancing, standing and lighting the room with their phone flashlights.
About halfway through the evening, there was a short intermission that allowed students to grab snacks and drinks. During this break, a quick cup game was organized, inviting eight students to participate.
“I enjoyed the Uptown Buffs so much. Their performance of ‘Uptown Funk’ by Bruno Mars was very dynamic and well-studied,” said junior Youssef Heggy.
The next event organized by CAB will be Breakfast with Brutus next Thursday, April 23, from 8 to 10 a.m. at the SUB. For more information, visit https://milligan.edu/life/get-involved/campus-activities-board/.
