Sept. 25 to 27, Milligan University’s Ministry Leadership Program (MLP)  hosted its first ever “Pursue” Conference for students looking to enter into a calling to ministry and service.

The Pursue Conference is an event held at colleges across the nation where high school students can come and learn more about what it means to pursue ministry as a calling in their lives.

Kit Dotson, special assistant to the president for Ministry Initiatives, said, “This is the first year that Milligan has held this conference.” Dotson said there were about 30 students who registered for the conference this year.

According to MLP Director John Emmert, the goal of the conference is to help active high school church members discover their calling. “This conference is for students who are considering ministry, who love serving the church,” Emmert said, emphasizing his hope that attendees realize church leadership is a viable vocation.

“The Pursue Conference includes an MLP worship night and different pastors coming to speak to these high school students.” Sophomore MLP student Sophie Miller said, “It helps students discern their calling, especially in ministry.”

Conference events were hosted at Milligan’s Seeger Chapel and off-site at Appalachian Christian Camp in Unicoi County.
