TWIRP (The Woman Is Required to Pay) Week is an annual Milligan tradition that took place on the week of Sept. 11 this year.  Students had the chance to participate in both on-campus and off-campus events with their dates and friends.  Campus Activities Board members said they worked hard to make TWIRP Week feel fresh this year.

“TWIRP Week took a lot of planning and devotion,” said Gabriel Logan, a member of CAB. “We really wanted to make sure TWIRP Week came together in a simple yet amazing fashion.”

Unlike previous years, TWIRP events this year started on Sunday night. SUB 7 was full of students who came for “Sundaes on Sunday.”  The Milligan community could come and get an ice cream float or sundae and choose from different flavors of ice cream, toppings and sodas. CAB members decorated with balloons and colorful tablecloths for students to sit at and enjoy their sweet treats.

On Monday, students commuted to Holiday Lanes to bowl at a discounted cost.

Streaks of red, white and blue zipped across Family Skate Center on Tuesday as students skated in their patriotic outfits.  Students were given prizes for their costumes, with one couple winning  the title “most patriotic.”  Keila Treviño and Brandon Ellis took home the couple prize, and Nick Lung took home the best overall outfit award.

Wednesday evening CAB put on a new event called “Dive-In Movie.”  Students gathered at the Steve Lacey Fieldhouse swimming pool to watch “Finding Nemo.” CAB provided food and floaties, of course.

Another new event was “Just Jump Night.”  Students made their way to Just Jump Trampoline Park where they had the chance to jump on the trampolines, dunk basketballs and flip into a foam pit with their dates and friends.

TWIRP Week concluded on Friday night with the Old Hollywood themed Sadie Hawkins Dance.  Students dressed up and came to SUB 7 to dance, eat food and hang out with friends.
