The Milligan Men’s Volleyball team lost their second home game of the season against Midway University last Thursday with a score of 3 sets to 0. The Buffs are now 1-3, with their only win coming in a 3-1 set victory over Tennessee Club Team.

Midway jumped out to an early lead with a score of 6-3 in the first set and never looked back, taking the first set 25-15.

The second set was all Milligan from the start, as they captured a 3-6 lead. The Eagles managed to tie it up at 6 before Milligan made another run, jump-started with a service ace by Blake Ellis. At one point, it looked like the Buffs were in control of the set with a commanding lead of 14-20. However, Midway outscored the Buffs 12-4 at the end of the set to take it 26-24.

The third set was similar to the first, with the Eagles seizing a lead of 7-5 and running away with the win 25-21.

Sophomore Blake Ellis led the way with six kills and two service aces. Senior Austin Corcoran had 15 assists, five service aces, and one kill. Senior Daniel Robinson had nine digs and three kills, and Junior Cooper Mills recorded four block assists and three kills.

Senior Austin Corcoran is hopeful to see improvement as the season progresses,

“This season we’ve had to overcome a lot in the last few weeks, we’ve had our ups and downs and I think we have the potential to win a couple of games. Although we lost to Midway, we plan on giving them a run for their money next time we play them, in addition to other teams down the road. I am confident in the potential our team has but we have to keep a positive and competitive mindset down the stretch.” The Buffs return to action on Friday, March 5th, to play the away leg against Midway University. The game starts at 1:00pm and can be seen on Midway’s live stream.
