About 40 students gathered on the lawn in front of the Village to celebrate Thanksgiving together Thursday night. The event, called CABs-giving, was organized by the Campus Activities Board.

After a Thanksgiving-themed dinner in the cafeteria, students headed outside, drawn by the smell of roasted marshmallows and the warmth of a fire. Activities such as cornhole, drawing hand turkeys and eating s’mores at the fire reminded many of childhood memories, said CAB Director Juan Villalba.

To round out the Thanksgiving experience, there was also pumpkin pie and hot chocolate.

The atmosphere was cozy and welcoming, said freshman Melissa Duartee, who attended with friends. A highlight of the evening was the hayride around the Village, which many students joined.

“My favorite part was the hayride. It was so much fun and adrenaline. I loved enjoying the time with my friends,” Duartee said.

Villalba expected about 60 students to attend. Because of light rain, fewer students showed up than predicted, but he was still satisfied with the outcome.

“We’ve had students come in, hang out for a little bit, have some pie or a roasted s’more and then head out to do other stuff, so it’s been great,” said Villalba.

CAB’s next event will be the Advent Market, held after Thanksgiving break in the first week of December. For more information, visit milligan.edu/life/events/.
