At 5:32 a.m. on Tuesday, March 31, the email the student body had been patiently awaiting all semester finally arrived: Wonderful Wednesday had begun.
Brunch
The day started off at 9:30 a.m. with brunch in the cafeteria. Walking in, students were greeted by staff and campus activities leaders. The lobby and tables were decorated according to the theme, “Wonderful Wednesday at the Milligan Motor Speedway!” A Bristol Motor Speedway employee was also present, bringing a speedway car for students to take pictures with.
Faculty Hunt
The faculty hunt began at 11 a.m. with the sounding of the Seeger bell and concluded at the noon sounding of the same bell. Fourteen faculty members — including Shauna Crowe, Choonsang Park, Lori Mills, Hannah Colbaugh, Rebecca Sapp, Megan Sanders, Sydnee Jessee, Betsy Magness, Kylie Greer, Ann Mahan, Bob Mahan, Kevin Kovacs, Doneva Bays and Virginia Pennell — were hiding around Milligan’s campus. Most were found within the first couple of minutes.
Intramurals
Volleyball and dodgeball intramural was a big part of the day, not just for teams competing but also for all spectators.
Inflatables
Inflatables were set up on Mary Sword Commons from 12 to 4 p.m., including basketball hoops, axe throwing, an obstacle course and more.
Water slide
A slip and slide was set up on Buffalo Creek Road from 1 to 3 p.m. Students and faculty participated, using baby oil to enhance speed and tubes to go down the hill together.
Milk Chug
Eleven students participated in the milk chug challenge on Wonderful Wednesday. The event lasted 45 minutes. The winner was senior Jacob Miller, who took home the golden milk jug.
Fireworks
As tradition demands, the yearly fireworks ended the festivities. The fireworks started around 9 p.m. and concluded this year’s Wonderful Wednesday after a 10-minute-long show.
